Scouts want to have fun. As a result, in order to keep the den meetings running smoothly, I find you have to break up all the learning parts of the activity badges with fun stuff.
- I try to have an activity for everyone to do while you are waiting for everyone to get to the meeting.
- Once everyone is there, you can start off with the Pledge of Allegiance and the Cub Scout Promise.
- Then start into the Activity Badge requirements, once you have gone over half of them break out a game, craft or fun activity
- After 10 or 15 minutes (depending on how much time you have for the meeting) start back into the requirement.
- After completing the requirements you need to accomplish, end the meeting with another game or craft (or complete the craft you started earlier).
I have found this works well as it breaks up the meeting and the scouts seem to have a lot of fun. |
